It is Saturday and a weekend in Manila so again I am quite disoriented because this day is the first of the working days in Oman. But I don’t mind after all we are on vacation. It is a wonderful morning after Manila had been bathed last night with heavy down pours. It seems like all the dusts and pollutants have been washed away into floods that have subsided by now. I feel the cool breeze blowing into the windows and a good sign of a fair weather for the entire day. Because my sister-in-law Rica is off from work, she recommends wandering around Fort Bonifacio Global City to find relaxation in the early afternoon.
Fort Bonifacio Global City is a remarkable site emerged from a novel concept of joining shopping and dining as well as an experience of a workplace, entertainment, education, hospitality, health and fitness, culture and the arts all in one place. It bears the famous brand as the “Home of Passionate Minds” where the life-work-play lifestyles come together. This city is a mega billion joint venture between Ayala Land Inc. and Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation that is situated in the fast growing city of Taguig and spanned an area of 240 hectares. Its strategic location gives access to most parts of Metro Manila by linking two major arteries of EDSA and the C-5 highway connecting to the South Luzon Expressway making ones travel so easy to Muntinlupa, Canlubang, Laguna, and other communities in the southern region. On one hand, it can also be reached by classy residents from Quezon City as well as those that are from Makati and Ortigas business districts. This city carries its bandwagon of being the “Home of Passionate Minds” where the philosophy of Live, Work, and Play come together.
The taxi drops us in Serendra, one of the upscale sections of BGC where you can find an array of elegant restaurants and fine dining that serves many international cuisines. This is not a crowded place and so I love the idea of an outdoor dining under huge umbrellas line across the shops fenced off part especially in a very pleasant afternoon. The excellent landscapes and line of plants and greenies added to the aura of the whole area. But because I am not that kind of classy diner and would often prefer to eat over some reasonably priced food, we just walk past this area and head to Bonifacio High Street instead.
We cross the road that divides between Serendra and Bonifacio High Street. Just at the corner is the Fully Booked store. My kids are passionate readers so I thought it is a good idea to feed on their longing for stories and books. Other than that, we are all feeling sultry and sweating that an airconditioned room can a be great relief at the moment. Likewise, we‘ve got five hours to kill before I will meet my brother Ryan at 6:00 o’clock in the same venue.
