My sister is also my agent when it comes to marketing my cakes. She works in a hospital here in Oman where she regularly shares my cakes to her colleagues for free tasting. Then, it came to a point that I became famous in her workplace as a good baker (am proud to claim that). This yellow ombre cake is ordered by my sister’s colleague as a surprise gift to her bestfriend.
This cake is flavored with chocolate and has fresh bluberry filling and toppings. It is a favorite flavor among my sister’s female co-workers.
I used the cream cheese frosting and tinted it with varied shades of yellow to come up with an ombre effect. ‘Ombre‘ from the french word which mean shaded or shading. This style is mostly used everywhere may it be on hair color, textiles, walls, etc. because of the fading color from dark to light, or vice versa.
For cake decorating, the style is also adopted by most cake designers and decorators because of how it turned a typical cake to a very attractive and beautiful sweet creation.
In this cake I used the Wilton Tip #12 to create a dotted spots of ombre frosting around the cake.
Yellow Ombre Cake
As a creative way of putting a message, I used this yellow chevron-styled straw to create a bunting and hang the greetings which I written on a piece of tiny square papers. The straw is a perfect match to the cake color. Those papers were attached to metallic strings.
You can also sweetpeas flowers made of gumpaste which is also one of the byproduct during my Course 4 in Wilton Cake Decorating Class.
The cake truly made a surprise to the celebrant. I’m glad that my cakes has gradually turned from frump to fab.
