We travelled to Philippines last July for our family summer vacation. Before going home, I already have set the activities of what I am going to do during my three-week stay in my country. One of those activities was a baking session with my own mother.
I brought my stand mixer and some ingredients from Oman because some of them were not available in my home town. I also borrowed some baking utensils from my mother-in-law who used to be a food technology instructor in my previous workplace.
Since Mama doesn’t have her own gas range oven, I instantly bought a brand new one for her from a local appliance center in our city.
The baking session happened at my parent’s home in Surigao City. My mama and our housemaid were my only students. Mama was a keen observer and she learned quickly.
We first made the moist chocolate cupcakes. Our first attempt was a success. After cooling down the cupcakes, Mama took a bite and she was so happy of her sweet creations.
After the baking lesson, I also made the cakes for my kids’ birthday party that took place two days after.
It was actually a nice bonding moment between me and Mama. I wish we stayed a bit longer in the Philippines and we can have more baking sessions with different kinds of cakes I have made before. But anyway, she was happy that she was able to make her first cupcakes and they were pretty delicious.
Hope you like this post and visit me again later.
