On May 14th, my family and I went for a short vacation trip to United Arab Emirates. We visited our family friends in Abu Dhabi. Evelyn, who is my bestfriend, requested a cake for the advance birthday celebration of her husband. So, I made this blue ombre cake as our gift to the birthday boy, Elmer.
I felt the need to unwind and get some relaxation after being exhausted from my teaching job. Good thing, May 17th was a holiday in Oman because of Isra Al Miraj, known as the the miraculous Night Journey and Ascension of the Prophet Muhammad. So therefore, we got three-days off from work.
I message Evelyn weeks before our departure. Upon knowing our plan, she immediately told me that she wanted a cake for Elmer’s birthday for her husband’s surprise birthday party on friday, May 15th, during their household meeting.
Without any doubt, I noted the request on my digital calendar.
We traveled by car to UAE and I am glad that the cake arrived safely and in perfect condition. Evelyn was so happy to see the cake. She said it was beautiful and suit to Elmer’s taste.
The cake is made of moist chocolate with choco ganache filling. The whole cake is frosted with cream cheese frosting in a varied shades of blue. I use wilton tip # 1M in making the beautiful serrated frost around the cake.
I also added some ocean color beads on top for another accent.
Evelyn posted on my facebook page the cake with the greeting message.
I am glad my cake was able to cross the border. This is the second time that my sweets was able to provide happiness to the guests and my dear friends in United Arab Emirates.
Thanks for dropping by my blog. Visit me again sometime.
