In continuation with our Wilton Cake Decorating Course, we learn how to make mum and daisy flowers today. These edible floral figures are very fun to make and look aren’t they gorgeous?
We first created the Daisy flowers using a white and yellow gum paste. Then we cut two daisy shapes using the large Mum Cutter. The gum paste are placed on a thin foam and pull small end of veining tool down to the center of each petal beginning at the point and working outward. The two daisy petals are overlap with an edible glue. The yellow pea-sized gum paste is rolled into a ball and flatten. The ball is attached to the center of the petals with edible glue.
The second flower is the mum which is made up of six overlapping petals. We cut three small and three large petals using the mum cutter then the petals are cup by pulling it from the point to the base of the petal using a round end of thick pointed modeling tool. Spaghetti #5 thread the mum base through the center of petals. The petals are pressed to base and attach.
These two flowers are famous to be used for wedding cakes or birthday cakes. For sure, I will make more of their kinds in different colors ahead of time because my orders these days are always for birthdays and weddings.
Thanks for reading this post. I promise to share to you the “how tos” on making these beautiful edible flowers.
Lots of Love,
