Yesterday I posted a review on my 2012 goals and I have been quite proud for attaining more than 90% of the whole list. I feel happy and rewarded, indeed!
So now, I will embark on my journey this year with my pretty ambitious and sometimes unrealistic goals that I have selected for myself and come up with what I called “MY LIFE LIST”. For me, it is a way of keeping my dreams alive; give me a sense of direction; and powers up my passion as I keep updating my personal blog.
Since I have previously enumerated the initial priorities I have in mind, this time, I expanded my list and I want everyone and the whole word to see it. I will make myself accountable to work earnestly on my resolutions and actually accomplish something I intend to do. I normally set major goals into bunch and then sort out the specific details on how to achieve them.
So for 2013, I bind myself to the following resolutions:
Personality and Appearance: Practice the 90/10 principle. Know my limits and work on my weaknesses. Discover my inner strengths and cultivate ideal habits. Wear light and earthly colored dresses that will make me comfortable at work or during regular days out. Buy ONLY items that are really necessary and make sure they are on sales or discounts promos. Prettify myself with DIY pampering moments at home and visit the saloon for a total image makeover this summer.
Family and Homemaking: Take my family to picnics and other exciting activities to spend quality time with each other. Teach my little girl with basic ABCs and counting numbers. Transfer my son to Philippine School this coming June and enroll him to sports clinic this summer like swimming or karate classes. Have a “date night” with my husband every Tuesday. Beautify our new rented flat in Muscat this coming May so that we can live comfortably and peacefully. Involve my kids in household chores and arrange schedules with my husband on domestic assignments like house cleaning, laundry, or babysitting. Regularly chat and phone call my parents.
Work and Sideline Projects: At least finish one major project for this year with regard to my work, let say a new college website. Observe time management. Enhance my skills in web programming and multimedia. Develop my writing skills and continue be an event writer in our college website. Accept sideline projects to add to my income.
Knowledge and Education: Read and read more worthy and great books of my interest. Complete the academic requirements of my Doctoral Studies and perhaps take the comprehensive exam. Develop a community of like-minded bloggers and cultivate online friendship. Continue to conduct trainings and lectures.
Finances and Investments: Continue practice frugality in every aspect of our living and spending. Pay the utility bills monthly and keep an accounting journal. Buy additional shares on mutual funds and stocks as well as augment time savings account.
Health and Fitness: Maintain a normal weight and eat healthy food. Jog or do zumba dancing at home. Trim down my so-called tummy “potato pouch”. Get rid with junk foods and eliminate coffee intake. Have a major medical checkup with a trusted doctor just to use our health insurance. Sign up at least one runners club or any “run/walk for a cause” activities.
Travel and Adventure: Spend one week vacation in Salalah, the southern city of Oman located in Sharqiyah region and experience the Kareef Festivity. Explore more places in the southern part of the country like Duqm, Sur, Qurayat, and Masirah Island. Regularly visit friends in Ibri and Muscat. Go for camping trips on Eid holidays and long breaks. Visit forts, museums, mosques, and farms. Picnic in wonderful parks. Spend a night at a dessert camp and witness sunset behind sand dunes. See old ruins and appreciate old historical landmarks. Swim in beaches and experience scuba diving. Cliff leaping in wadis. Hike to jabals and climb hills. Witness the egg-laying turtles.
Driving and Photography: Since travelling is my passion, I think it is about time to get a driver’s license. I commit myself to get the license middle of this year and be my husband’s reliever when we tour around Oman. I will document all our travel and I will buy my own DSLR camera. I also capture images of children, landscape, foods, and anything that are inspiring and captivating. Then learn post-processing technique from online resources and from my first-hand mentor, my husband.
Passion and Interests: I will pursue my passion for:
Baking and Cake Decorating: My desire in baking presses me to the next level and that is to try cake
decorating. I promise to bake my kids’ birthday cakes and to develop my decorating and artistic skill.
Sewing and Designing: I will buy a table top sewing machine, and start fabricating pillow cases and covers
then eventually my little girl’s dresses
Gardening and Flower Arranging: I will start gardening by having flowers in pots in our new flat. Then
also grow vegetables in pots. To beautify our living room, I will add some fresh flowers.
Faith and Spirituality: Attend holy mass celebration every Sundays or Thursdays. Pray the rosary. Practice personal meditation. Complete the nine morning masses in December before Christmas Day.
Social and Community: I will join even one social or community organization that whose cause is the same as mine. Attend at least one welfare program in the Philippine Embassy.
My Own Thoughts
These are all the goals I have for myself as of the moment. Maybe I’ll add more as months pass by or whenever I think I’ll have to do something rewarding and interesting.
I believe these goals will, or at least, help me grow stronger and improve my life this 2013. But along the way, I know there will be obstacles that hinder the path to success or maybe I may fall wayside for my lack of self-discipline. So the best thing I can do is to give a very careful thought in advance and look for any potential problems and the solutions too. I must keep myself reminded all the time and draw out my strength from my friends and families.
To be realistic, I will not put too much pressure to myself. Instead I will think and do only the things that I can accomplish within the day or get a fraction of the stuff done I aspire to do. I know there is great success even in small achievements. I will be much happy of pursuing something than none at all.
