I know Valentine’s Day was long time ago and this is a super delayed post. But because part of my blogging interest is on restaurant hunting, I still wanted to share our dining experience in one of the sophisticated cafes in Oman, the Shakespeare and Co. located in the commercial area of The Wave, Muscat.
The café’s location is fronting the marina and situated next to Shang Thai and Pizza Express Restaurants. People normally come here to dine in for their English cuisines or enjoy smoking with sisha at the outdoor patio especially in the evening and weekends. The restaurant is owned by an Emirati company and has various chains all over the UAE but they have only one outlet in Oman.
The interior of the café is chic and classy with very elegant chairs and tables around the place. The cafes theme is English eccentricity that reflects the era of William Shakespeare, yes, the English poet, playwright and actor. The floor and ceiling are also hand-painted while classic picture frames are hang on the wall. I really like the café setup especially with the addition of pillow cushions on each chair and big vases with huge flowers on the corners.
The waiters and managers were mostly Filipinos and they were very warm and welcoming. The moment we scooped our sits they instantly approached and brought a beautifully crafted menu. I tell you they have a wide variety of food to suit your preferences such as eggs and specialties, pastas, crepes, breads, soups, finger food, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, grills, main course, desserts, drinks, and sisha flavors. It was pretty confusing because for me all the foods listed in the menu were delicious!
And I got a stick of white rose too! So sweet!
Then, eventually, we settled for our orders. We have the chicken wings with fries and varied dips.
The shrimp in avocado sauce with fries.
And there’s the salad and it was my sister’s favorite.
My son had this tomato and cheese pizza because he doesn’t like to add any vegetables.
I choose the chicken kabab with biryani rice.
While hubby had his beef tenderloin.
For the drinks, there were lemon ice tea, chocolate milk shake, and strawberry smoothie.
Wait, here’s the yummiest chocolate fondant which had a warm chocolate cake with a molten center that came with vanilla ice cream on the side and toasted orange rim.
Sadly, I lost the receipt of our bill so I couldn’t quote the exact prize for each of our order. But I can estimate that the total cost was around 45 Omani Rials all-in-all.
For me, the service was quite good with the beautiful ambiance and comfortable feeling of being served by warm café crews.
I would love to come here again soon and try their other menus such as pastas and crepes.
All in all our valentine’s day was worth a lot while having dinner at the beautiful elegant café. We really had a good moment savoring each food while chatting about good memories.
