I dedicate this cake to all wonderful mothers around the world. Life would have been boring and incomplete without you. You brought light and inspiration to each home and to the people around you. Cheers to a beautiful-remarkable-compelling woman like you!
Other than making this cake for Mother’s Day, it is also a final project for my Wilton Course 3 on Cake Decorating using Gum Paste and Fondant. Indeed, another goal fulfilled before the end of this year!
It is a moist chocolate cake with buttercream filling and frosting.
The entire cake is covered with Wilton Ready-to-Roll Fondant Icing that is tinted with Orange and Royal Blue liquid gel.
On top of the cake are edible flowers – roses, calla lillies, mums, carnations, and daisies – that are made of gum paste.
I am so thankful to God for another wonderful opportunity to further level up my skills on cake decorating. It is an answered prayer and a long time wish. I really feel good about myself and I know my cakes will even look more beautiful and elegant by using gum paste in prettifying my sweet creations.
So this cake is not only made for one but two occasion.
I say thank you to all mothers out there.. Most especially to my own mother Mama Ofelia.. for all the good things that she has done for me throughout the years. I can only pay forward her good deeds and remarkable act of kindness to my own children to make them also proud of me the way I am to my own mother. I love you so much MAMA… how I wish you are near so that we can share together a slice of cake that I have made for us.
