Last week, I turned 34. I celebrated my birthday with my own family and we went off to “The Cave”. Honestly, I am truly impressed the moment we came to this place.
You see, “The Cave” did not only redefined the dining experience in the city but also became a tourist attractions all on its own.
From the landscaping ideas to the exterior and interior architecture, one could really tell that it is a magnificent creation!
Just imagine yourself dining inside a place that really looks like a cave. It has all the boulders, stalactites, and stalagmites that are meticulously crafted with ingenuity.
You can feel the enchanting ambiance. Even my 3-year old little girl commented that it reminded her of the cartoon TV show The Flintstones.
Truly, it reflects the raw and rough cave found in the country mirroring the ages of history and rich culture of the sultanate. No wonder, it is dubbed as the “world’s hidden wonder”.
As of the moment, there are eight restaurants occupying the three-storey complex that stands majestically on the top of an idyllic hill overlooking the Darsait area in Ruwi, Muscat.
It also attracts diners to various dishes and delicacies pleasing to the most refined palates.
In here you can have options to try international seafood, tradional omani food, asian and Indian cuisine, and Mediterranean, Lebanese, and Latin dishes.
But since we love seafood, we grabbed our sits in Harbour Restaurant that’s considerably one of the restaurants in town serving the finest caviars of the world (a delicacy of fish-eggs).
The Harbour Restaurant was inspired by the maritime tradition which Oman was famous in the ancient world. It took their passion from the omani fishing industry and blended their services to the best seafood dishes.
The Cave had also its own bakery that made bread like olive, garlic, tomato and in many different varieties. While waiting for our order, we got a basket of bread that taste so delicious. I liked the bread sticks the most.
After sometime our food orders came.
For the starters, we ordered Calamari (5.000 rials), a pan-fried flamed squid rings with garlic and lemon juice, and Shrimps and Vegetable Tempura (5.000 rials), a battered deep-fried shrimp and vegetables served with a side of soy sauce.
We enjoyed eating the starters with the bread and stuffed with butter and all kinds of sauce and dressing.
The main course was the King Fish Grilled Steak having a big slice of king fish that is pan-friend savored with capers sauce and served with steamed potatoes. This course cost 9.500 rials.
There’s the Pan Fried Salmon Fillet which my son liked so much. It’s a pan fried salmon with creamy sauce and asparagus.
Our drinks include the homemade iced tea in red fruit flavor and peach flavor. Each drinks cost 1.200rials.
We have a very decent and fine dining moment. After the dinner, we took some snapshots inside the Harbor Restaurant and really admired the intricate and very detailed designs found on the walls.
Surprisingly my husband handed to me his birthday gift and it was an iPhone6! Really I was so so so happy.. and finally my 3-year old mobile phone has a new replacement. I really feel so loved and blessed! I kiss and hug my hubby after I unwrapped the gift box.
After dinner, we decided to chill and relax at The Clouds which was located on the first floor of the complex.
It is an open area and a romantic place for anyone who wants to dine overlooking the magnificent view around the cave. Here you can taste exquisite mediterrean and Lebanese dishes.
Since we are too full, we opted to have some hot drinks while my husband have some sisha moment (Arabic cigarette) while the place was slowly filled up with guests as the evening went on.
We left the place almost midnight and had a great evening with equally good food and a great dining experience!
Thank you for reading this post. Hope you’ll visit again soon.
Lots of Love,
