Long before my daughter’s second birthday I already have in mind the kind of party that she will have. Since her first birthday was a huge and lavishly prepared celebration which was done in Philippines and attended by many of our friends, relatives, and families, this time we want it to be a simple yet memorable gathering at home.
Right after her first party, I have decided that her second birthday’s party theme will be HELLO KITTY because I find it very feminine and delicate just like my little princess. As a background, Hello Kitty is fictional character portraying a female white Japanese bobtail cat with a red bow on the left ear. It was created by a Japanese Company named Sanrio and designed by Yoko Shimizu. In 1974, it first appears in Japan in a vinyl coin purse. Since Hello Kitty is characterized as a bright and kind-hearted girl, it became a global marketing phenomenon that reached to USA and eventually throughout the world. Today, it has a TV series, targeted towards young children especially girls, and the main character at the two Japanese Sanrio theme parks: Harmonyland and Puroland.
Just a mere twist of fate, lately, my little girl is affectionate with cats of different species. She is even curious that she wants to touch their soft furs. She is amaze with their big bright eyes and delicate paws. I guess it is a good idea that I have this kitty appears in her party as well.
I get myself ready with all ideas about Hello Kitty from the cake to the banner and photobooth design. Good thing the internet is the biggest resource that we can look for. I download pictures and videos on how to make the 2D hello kitty cake, my husbands created the birthday banner using the images he found on the net and combine them all using fireworks, a software by Adobe, then the photobooth was made of short size bond paper posted together on the walls of our living room.
Anyah’s birthday cake is a two-tier cake made of moist vanilla and chocolate. It was coated with buttercream frosting of white and pink shades. The 2D part of the cake is the face of Hello Kitty with the pink bow on the left ear with her dark brown eyes and whiskers, and bright yellow nose.
The banner is one by half a meter size with my girl’s recent photo on the left and hello kitty on the right. It is surrounded by balloons in pink and red color.
However, due to time restrictions, the photobooth was partially completed, we just hang balloons on every corner of the room and some are scattered on the floor.
At about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, our guests arrive and the celebration started with a house warming. It is our belief that whenever you have to move in to a new house, rented or owned, it needs to be blessed to attract good things and positive vibes. And for the family who live within to be protected, to let love flourished among them, and to stay joyful and happy. The ceremony is initiated by Russell, our close friend. The candles are set alight and I read a passage on the bible. Then, holy water is spread throughout house sections.
After a while we savor the yummiest dishes prepared on the buffet table including lumpia shanghai, embotido, spaghetti, pancit canton special, fried chicken, roasted chicken, beef caldereta, bacon macaroni salad, and some desserts like rice cake, choco cupcakes, and fruit salad.
We are thankful to all our friends and families who were with us during Anyah’s 2nd Birthday Party. Your messages and warm greetings surely bring smiles to us all especially to our little darling. We truly appreciate your time and kindness that you have shared upon us. Above all, to God, for giving us so much than what we have asked for. To you Lord we are forever grateful.
