My family and I went to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates last May to attend the Christening celebration of Malaika Louise – the daughter of our good family friend, Elmer and Evelyn. It was my promise to my bestfriend-mom Evelyn to make the cake and setup the dessert buffet table during the reception.
A month before the baptism, I helped Evelyn with the wonderful ideas for the occasion. I created the invitation and the banner using the baby images that she sent to me. I also suggested to have balloons, banner, giveaways, and of course my sweet creations displayed on the dessert buffet table. Indeed, I was really excited as if it was a baptism of my own daughter.
The dinner was held at the newly-opened Max’s Restaurant in Corniche Road in Abu Dhabi on May 29, 2014. The area was good enough for fifty persons but it was cozy and well-lighted.
Together with my husband, kids, and friend Angelica, we arrived at the reception venue just thirty minutes before the parents and guests followed after the church ceremony.
We hurriedly hanged the banner with the help of the restaurant crews. Then, my husband placed the individual hanging names of Baby Like on the table edge.
While Angelica assisted me in placing the cupcakes on the cupcake stand and arranged the giveaways on the table.
The standing name “LIKE” that resembled the like button of facebook was made by my friend Gerry which I requested a day before we left Muscat.
I also arranged the fresh flowers on a big crystal vase with ice cold water along with the jars of chocolates and gummy candies.
The cake was set on a very nice cake stand that gave highlight to the whole table setup.
When Evelyn came, she was so surprised and happy with the dessert buffet table. She was impressed because it was like arranged by a professional baker and event organizer. And I told her, I really made it beautiful as my gift for her cute daughter Baby Like.
Before the guests arrived and the program started, we took a quick snapshot as a souvenir of the event. I am really proud of what I have done during the party. I guess it will be a beginning of more dessert buffet setup I will do in many occasions to come.
This is another “party ideas” brought to you by HAPPY BAKER DELIGHTS.
