Purple Yam (Ube) Cake with Macapuno Filling

As a loving wife, Ludy wanted to have a special cake for her husband’s birthday last June 27th. She specially requested from me to make a Purple Yam (Ube) Cake with Macapuno filling because it’s her husband’s favorite cake flavor.

She sent me a message and reservation actually a month ago. She wanted to surprise Tatay Ernel along with their close family friends for a small birthday party at their home.

I have tried making a purple yam cake last year so I’m pretty confident to make this kind of cake again.


I mixed mashed purple yam to the cream cheese frosting to add and extra texture and flavor. The ready-made-in-a-bottle macapuno (sweetened coconut strips) were filled in between the two layer of cakes. I also added cream cheese frosting and spread the mashed purple yam.

Days later, I received wonderful comments from Nanay Ludy that in fact the cake was so delicious that every think it was an “awesome” cake.

It is always my goal to make my cake a part of special celebration and bring extra smile and contentment to the celebrant and his/her guests.

      Sure you should try it…truly delicious..my clients keep on ordering the cake during special occasion… You can also use sweetend Langka as an alternative for ube macapuno.
