Before the long Eid Holiday, we went to Jawharat Al Shatti Mall to buy some beach wear and diving stuffs for our camping next week. We pass by this lovely-classy cafes located on the ground just beside the main entrance of the mall. I was really attracted to its lemon yellow theme-interior with classic-chic style. They have outdoor dining section where you can see beautiful table designs and chairs cushioned in checkered fabric. Then I happen to know that it is D’Arcys Kitchen café.
Many people especially western nationals come here for breakfast. There are loads of seats at the café but the place seems to be constantly busy during all times of the day. The ambiance is equally inviting as their yummy menu starting from sandwiches, cold cuts, pastas, burgers, pancakes, and innovative dishes.
Everything in the cafes are personalized with its cute looking tabletop paper with comical drawing of Omani customers, as well as the pepper and salt dispenser, paper napkin, and even their dining plates, cups, and saucers. They are so beautiful and very original including the teapots and cups of displayed around the area.
We were served by very friendly and accommodating Filipino Staff. This is our first visit, so we ask help from one lady for our meal. We had for the starter for Chicken Fingers (2.800 OMR) which happen to be my son’s favorite. It came in a long thick fried boneless chicken fingers coated with breadcrumbs. The sauce is really good with a mixture of mayonnaise and salad dressing. The quantity is enough as a main course for one person.
For me and my hubby we share the Coronation Chicken (3.000 OMR) with French Fries (0.700 Baiza). It’s a dish of chunky marinated boneless chicken pieces with a special sauce made of peanut butter and onions. The chicken meat is well cooked and the sauce adds to its taste. You can have an option with white, brown, or wheat bread for your sandwich. I go for the healthy one and selected the wheat bread that has bits of sesame seeds in it.
My kids love the Lava Cake with Molten Chocolate inside and top with vanilla ice cream (1.800 OMR). My son also have some scope of ice cream (2.000 OMR) while my husband and I share the Iced Cappuccino Latte (1.800 OMR).
If you want to try their snack courses here the average price for starter is from RO 1 to RO 2.5, while the main course costs around RO 2 to Ro 5. The drinks cost from 300 Baiza (Soda) to 2.000 OMR.
With our whole order including a large bottle of water (0.800 bz) costs 12.700 OMR tax-free. We supposed to have only a light afternoon snack but their servings are so heavy that we totally skip dinner.
I really like D’ Arcy’s Kitchen and this café is now one of our favorite. I happy they have other branches which I plan to dine in one of these days.
