I always see the signage of BEST BURGER every time we passed by Zakher Mall on our way to my son’s school in Al Khuwair. I got intrigue of it name and wanted to see whether the company really bears the truthfulness of its name. Added to that one of my office colleague have mentioned that they have a snack at this restaurant after a field trip in Muscat and it offer the biggest burger in town, a diameter that is equal the size of a typical dinner plate and can serve eight person.
As a skeptic diner, I searched the internet for reviews about the restaurant. One link led me to a controversy that happened in 2011. The Best Burger and Omani Cuisine blogger happened to have a dispute over a negative review that was published by the later on his website. The restaurant threatened to sue the blogger but later ended up with a peaceful negotiation in which the legal action was withdrawn and improving the menu they offered.
Oh well, it was real proof that many companies in the Middle East still fail to recognise the tremendous opportunities borne out of negative feedback, and how it can be used to improve the business and build stronger long-term customer relationships. These companies have to learn to listen to it and steer it in a manner beneficial to them. On the other side of the coin, bloggers in Oman need to be aware when writing reviews or criticising particularly when insulting the actual people who own the product or service being reviewed which could constitute an offence under any law.
So today, I wanted to experience for myself and my family the improvement attained by the restaurant in two years. We head to the place for a late afternoon snack. As a background, according to Omani Cuisine, Best Burger is “the restaurant is jointly operated along with Dream Cones – the ice cream place in Zakher Mall.” As I get through the entrance, I noticed that the place is empty with many chairs and tables are arranged in a circular manner surrounding the counter in the middle. The menus are displayed in a big banner posted on the counter. Basically, they offer beef burger that can be a classic, cheese, zinger, ranc, or chili flavor. There are also chicken Teriyaki Burger, French Fries, Spaghetti, Sandwich Wraps, Steak, Salads, and Fish and Chips. But all in all, the menu is limited and ideally for your snack choices.
We begin our dining with our individual orders. My husband choose the Classic Burger (1.900 OMR) added with Mushroom (0.300 Baiza) and Bacon (0.500Bz) together with Fries and Cola Shake (0.700 Baiza). The patty is juicy and even yummier with the special sauce, lettuce, tomato, and slice of cheese and onions.
My sister prefer the Chili Burger (2.200 OMR) with Fries and Slurppy Shake (0.700 Baiza) while I am on a salad mode that I selected the Spaghetti Meat (1.500) that came with some pieces of soft white bread with servings of cold butter. My son loves the Cheese Dog (1.500 OMR) with bits of cheese strips and fresh cuts of potato fries.
All the food that are prepared for us are delicious and delectable especially the burger patties that are made of real beef meat.
We also had a great time dining in the place as it is not too crowded. In total our bill came 9.300 OMR with tax. Not bad enough for the nice food and nice staff serving us!
