Our 10th Wedding Anniversary celebration was even more memorable because of the presence of the wonderful people who add meaning to our life since we move in to the Sultanate of Oman.
These friends whom we considered as our “second family” have been with us through thick and thin. They lent their warm hands and loving hearts in our most difficult times. They shared with our laughter and joy in our good times.
They help us feel that, even we are so far away from our families and loved ones, it is still nice and yet a happy life to be living in one of the Arabian countries that we can rightfully claim as our “second home”.
I will take this chance to introduce each of them because somehow they deserve to be remembered because of the love and support that they have given to me and my family throughout the six years of our existence here in the sultanate.
Meet Frances, a Lecturer, teaching Omani students to be fluent in English Language Skills. She is a single mom and a mother to four beautiful kids. For me, her superwoman strength of raising her children on her own give me inspiration that women have their inner capability to do the responsibilities of both a father and a mother. I salute her courage in facing the challenges of combating homesickness and being miles apart from her littlr ones. I am amaze of her optimistic attitude that motherhood is a fulfilling role if you commit yourselves with sincerity and passion.
Here is Jocelyn, an eye nurse and a passionate worker. She left Philippines in search for a better paying job in Oman and providing a good life to her husband and three kids. She works almost 12 hours a day, assisting her Egyptian doctors performing Lasik eyer surgery and other eye-related medical procedure. She used to be my tenant and even if I happened to see her twice a week because of her overly-busy schedule, we were able to establish a strong bond that keep us good friends for life. Her one and only daughter Angel is really cute and pretty just like her. I hope she can bring her family to Oman very soon and will make her so happy and contented in life.
Jose is my husband’s buddy at his workplace. They are on the same office and in the same fields. No wonder they both become good friends. This man is very humble and simple. I can see in him that the fulfillment of being a father and a husband is to provide your family the kind of life that they deserve. He is blessed with one daughter whom he draws all his inspiration to work away from home.
When it comes to traveling and camping around Oman, only one person that we can count on and that is Gerry. He also works in the college and teaching students specializing in Civil Engineering and Quantity Surveying. He is a very affectionate friend. He never fails to give us gifts each time there is a celebration like christmases, new years, or even valentines days. Although he had been separated with his wife for years but he continuously give support and love to his one and only child Gene Jireh, who also looks like him.
Angelie and Catherine are the most funniest and equally loving sisters that I have ever known. Laughter is the best medicine when you are around them. They normally tease and bully my kids, especially Andrei. But still, I know they have done that as an act of love because they long to have a brother which they didn’t have. I have considered these girls as my sisters as well.
Here is the beautiful couple – Randy and Mei. Randy is my colleague and also an IT teacher in the college while Mei works as an engineer at Oman Air.
I remember the time when Randy simply talked about a girl whom he adored so much and later we knew they were dating then became couple. In their almost three years of marriage, they are blessed with a little girl Guia who is really cute and adorable which we also call as Baby “G”.
Melo is our good friend. I admire this woman because of her simple joy and happiness in life. She is very active with her church activity and truly thankful to God with the blessing she receive in life. With that, she dedicate herself on Christian Living and Spiritual Enhancement. When I need spiritual healing and guidance, I come to her and she openly receive me with a warm and loving hands.
And finally, the Nabong Family. Rod and Anne have only one child named JM who is the playmate of my son Andrei. Rod works at the college while Anne is an accountant at a pharmaceutical company in Oman. We used to hang out with this family like on beach outing, road trips, or even simple overnights at our home. As both a mom and wife, Ann and I share the same passion and interests in life. We are the empowered women who can fulfill our tasks at home and at work altogether.
So everyone, those are the real and beautiful people that we will treasure forever. Amazing people with different story. But only one thing is common among us and that is valuing each other as friends.
Thanks for dropping by and see you around!
