Wilton’s Method Course 1: Decorating Basics – Lesson 2 (Decorating a Cake)

My Cake

My Cake

Last week was the start of my Wilton Method Course which I took at TAVOLA in Oman. We decorated our cookies as part of learning how to pipe buttercream and made our creative design.

Today, is another challenge in which we are required to decorate our own Cake with a design of a CUPCAKE. I baked the red velvet cake at home and brought it to the training center. I also prepared the buttercream beforehand.

During the session, I color the buttercream using Wilton Liquid Gel with a shade of blue, yellow, and pink. Then use the cake tipper for frosting the cake with white buttercream. For making the perfec design on the Cupcake on the top, I use the Liquid Gel to transfer the print from the plastic stencil then slowly outline the image using the Wilton Icing Tip.

The cake is filled with raspberry jam which is a great taste in tandem with the red velvet cake. I am really enjoying baking and decorating my first cake decorated with Wilton’s signature buttercream frosting.
