This whole course runs for about sixteen hours training where we learn a broad set of buttercream decorating techniques using the Wilton Method. I am so happy with this course because it helps to develop my skills and learn the basic techniques for my decorating projects, from cupcakes to cakes for any special occasion.
For lesson 1, we learn the basic of making a buttercream frosting using shortening, meringue powder, vanilla, milk, and powdered sugar. I discovered that the secret for a perfect cake decoration and design is the buttercream cream’s consistency, the angle of the hand, and pressure of piping bag.
Teacher Janna demonstrated to us the proper way of mixing the ingredients and come up with a fluffy and soft buttercream frosting. She then, brought out the two layers of chocolate cake she baked at her home. Slowly, she showed to us the ideal way of frosting the cake with the first coating and finally use the cake tip and bag for the final coating of the cake which for me is the easiest way to do. It’s one technique I discovered in the training.
Afterwards, the pre-made buttercream where distributed to us so that we can try use the cream by decorating our cookies.
